The conference is jointly organized by the Max-Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and the European University Institute.

15–16 October 2026

The interplay between intellectual property (IP) rights and competition law is nuanced and complex, particularly when viewed through the lens of innovation. The conference will feauture presentations of unpublished papers by legal and economic scholars addressing both overarching and sector-specific issues arising at the intersection of these fileds. During the two-day event, the papers will be discussed in depth, with particular attention given to their implications for legal doctrine, policy development, and market outcomes.

The Keynote speaker will be announced soon.

A ‘Best Junior Paper Award’ will be presented to the most outstanding contribution among submissions by authors not older than 35 years of age.

The participation fee is 150 € for participants. The fee covers attendance at all conference sessions, conference materials, as well as an evening social event, meals, and refreshments at the venue. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Presenting a paper is not a requirement for participation.
