Mao, Hao; Chen, Dapeng (2015). Corporate Behaviors in Purchasing Intellectual Property Service Finance & Trade Economics, 2015 (2), 109-124.

Intellectual property service plays an important role in the production, circulation and consumption of intellectual property. As the Chinese economy gets more and more market-oriented and innovation-driven, intellectual property service has been gaining popularity among companies. However, academic research on this topic is far from adequate. This paper aims to discover some patterns of corporate behaviors in purchasing intellectual property service and their contributing factors. We find that(1) purchasing behaviors are heterogeneous across different types of companies;(2) the intellectual property background of companies influences purchasing behaviors only in a limited way;(3) different types of intellectual service show different purchasing persistency. Our results provide policy implications for the government to promote true demand in the market.
