Job Opening

The department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research, headed by Prof. Dietmar Harhoff, invites outstanding and motivated researchers to apply as Postdocs in Economics or Management of Innovation. The term of appointment is up to three years.

Researchers at the Institute are expected to independently carry out basic research in the fields of

  • Innovation (with a possible focus on intellectual property rights, digitalization and innovation, origins and impact of AI, science of science, organization of innovation processes, innovation policy, innovation addressing grand challenges)
  • Entrepreneurship (e.g., entrepreneurial finance, start-up acceleration, entrepreneurship education, social and inclusive entrepreneurship, high-tech spin-offs, technology transfer)
  • Behavioral Foundations (e.g., incentives for creativity, innovation motives and behavior, inventor characteristics)

They publish their work in leading academic journals. The Institute provides access to an outstanding research infrastructure, including large-scale databases and computing capacity for machine learning. The working language is English.

About the Position

  • The term of appointment is up to three years. The position is expected to start as soon as possible.
  • There are no teaching obligations.
  • The gross salary is based on the German Labor Agreement for Public Service (TVöD).

Required Qualifications

Candidates need to hold a doctoral degree in management, business administration, economics or a related field by the end of 2026. Candidates are expected to have a very strong background in empirical methods. We value alignment between the group’s topics and the candidate’s research agenda.
